Arvind Das

Born in Bihar, Arvind Das is a Delhi-based academic and journalist, working as a senior researcher at Infotainment Television (ITV), which currently produces popular current affairs programmes like Devil’s Advocate and The Last Word for the news channel CNN-IBN. Before that he worked with various print and electronic media and was consultant for the BBC’s South Asia Bureau,Delhi. He writes on various issues for newspapers, magazines and web portals, and has presented several research papers on the Indian media in national and international seminars.

Arvind was awarded the UGC-JRF to pursuit his doctoral research at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, and the German Research Foundation (DFG) Fellowship to do his post-doctoral at Siegen University, Germany. He completed his M.Phil (literature) and Ph.D (journalism) from JNU, did his PG diploma in journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), New Delhi, and graduated in Economics from Delhi University. He also did a film appreciation course at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune. He is an avid blogger and has been blogging, mostly in Hindi, since 2006, when Hindi blogging was still in its infancy. At present he is working on his first book—Globalization and Hindi Media.
